Sum-m! Gyoza Dumplings
Gyoza (ghee-yo-za) or Potstickers are another of our favorite treats. We make
two versions – one with a vegetable filling and one with a pork and vegetable
filling. These tasty morsels are beautifully wrapped in paper-thin dough, then
steamed and lightly seared for a crispy bottom.
Our Gyozas can be reheated by microwave, or baked in the oven for a crispy
texture. For those who don’t mind spending a few extra minutes to fully enjoy
their Sum-m! Gyoza experience, we recommend pan-frying.
Directions for pan-frying:
Heat your frying pan on high heat with one tablespoon of oil.
Place 8-10 gyozas sear-marks down on the pan
Add 1/2 cup water, cover and allow to cook for 5-6 minutes or until the
bottoms are crispy. Be careful not to burn the gyozas.
Serve your gyoza with Sum-m! Gyoza dipping sauce.
Sum-m! Gyoza Sauce Recipes
The most basic and traditional sauce used in Chinese households is a mix of soy sauce,
rice vinegar and sesame oil, mixed to your personal preference. Most other gyoza dipping
sauces are simply variations of this.
Here is a recipe for you to try, but we suggest you experiment and add your own personal
touch.
Basic Gyoza Dipping Sauce
1/3 cup soy sauce (we recommend low-sodium varieties)
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1 table spoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon chopped red chilies
1 pinch sugar
- minced ginger or garlic can be added to suit your taste
