We are pleased to announce that Fine Choice Foods was awarded the Sustainability Award at FoodProWest last week in recognition of our leadership in sustainability and for making a positive contribution to the environment through our sustainability practices. During a recent expansion of our facilities, energy efficient technologies and systems were installed to reduce the company’s footprint. This new plant design saves 384,000 kWh per year – enough to power 35 homes for a full year!
These energy efficient installations were the latest in our continued commitment to sustainability. Other programs currently in place include recycling of used oil, the end-of-life management of packaging and printed paper, and waste reduction with a long-term goal of having zero waste in the landfill.
“We’re humbled and honoured to receive the 2015 BCFPA Sustainability Award and be recognised for something that we believe is simply the right thing to do,” says Dean Minamimaye, Business Operations Manager. “As a member of the community, Fine Choice Foods is committed to sustainable growth and keeps these practices at the forefront when making decisions about ingredients, partners, equipment, building systems and community involvement.”
